Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by JP
With the evenings starting to close in the Richmond GoodGym group met up at the Tap Tavern looking forward to our first inside task in a while.
Jack led everyone over to Richmond Green for a dynamic warm up of lunges, leg stretches and toe touches, before setting off on a 2.5km run from the Green to the task, along the river and over the bridge at the lock.
The evening’s beneficiary was St Christopher’s Fellowship, a charity creating brighter futures for children and young people in care.
We arrived at their care home in Twickenham and received our briefing from Jade. The plan was to paint the walls of one of the bedrooms, changing them from a butterscotch cream colour to duck-egg green.
We crammed into the room and shared out the 4 rollers and 4 brushes between us, and found creative ways to ensure everyone had nearby access to a paint receptacle.
With such a big group this was a great task, as we powered through the work and got it fully done - and we had a lot of fun too, swapping jobs and discussing report puns while Lucy serenaded us with bursts of song and hid in the wardrobe for early hallowe’en spooking.
Luckily there was a ladder on hand as the ceilings were very high, but even then Jack and Chris resorted to a leg-up to reach some high-up spots. Though nobody was willing to climb up by the windows where a spooky spider was lurking, watching us while we worked.
We finished a little after 8pm and stood back to admire our handiwork, then headed off to our Monday evenings. Looking forward to the next group run at the Whitton Youth Zone next week!

Great work! Looks like a proper 'Changing Rooms' transformation!
