This morning, 8 wonderful GG-ers ran 1.8km to help Westbury Banks Nature Reserve.

Today's starter session was blessed with lots of newbies, keen to do some running and some good.

We met by the reserve for introductions and to leave some stuff. We got to meet Luke's beautiful pup! (I should have taken a photo!)

After a quick warm up in front of the reserve, we slowly made our way to a nearby park to play some games and do some running drills, before heading back to base

Everybody did super well!

Back at the reserve it was time to get to work. We grabbed our tools and got to work digging and raking a bank around the pond.

It's so nice to see how much progress has been made since we were there in December!

The group also helped carry rain water to fill the pond. I'm sure there'll be a bit more rain to help the team out over the next few days!

Once all the work was done, Luke showed us the trees he planted for his cousin and Dick Tomlinson, who passed late last year.

We all took two Scottish memory pebbles, one to place in the pond and one to take home. I've got a beautiful red one!

Before we left, Luke awarded Hayeser with an incredible prize: some sort of awesome digging tool. Take a look at the photos.

We will be back at Westbury soon to help with the next task. See you there!

Help locals create a nature reserve

"The Westbury Banks Nature Reserve is a community lead project to transform derelict land into a nature reserve. All work on the site is on a voluntary basis and the management of the site is done free of charge! There are big plans to install a storage unit for the equipment, a mural, a log path with wood chipping, a pond for amphibious for wildlife and a grand insect hotel
