Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
20 runners ran 5k and dug up 25 foot of empty land for a new growing project.
It was a hot evening - the first of our runs that felt like summer had arrived.
We hit the road at 7 on the dot and legged it down to Loughborough Junction where Anthea and her team were waiting with a whole load of spades.
The task was to take up all the grass and remove all the shrubs.
We didn't think we'd manage it but gave ourselves 50 minutes to do as much as possible.
"stubborn root"
About half way through the time we still had two thirds to go, something stirred and there were some ruthless shouts of 'let's do this'. The intensity soared and by the time 3 mins was shouted we were almost there. It came down to the last 20 seconds to get the stubborn root out the the middle of the patch.
With 15 seconds to go it was cracked, and hoisted above our heads.
Anthea said:
"Thank you so much for last night. That grass was a really tough challenge. Hope everyone's muscles are holding up this morning. Thanks again for a great job well done."
The run home was a choice on Denmark Hill or Milkwood Road. 5k or 4k. Both were duly nailed and everyone got back to base looking well worked.
See you next time.
