Sunny arrival: We started the session with the lovely weather that was still warm and glorious sun made this a Vitamin D fun!
We had a lot to do so we got straight to it! Linda and Helen were picking out all the cigarette butts and litter (admittedly not too much this time round! We'd like to think the residents of Redbridge are behaving themselves but we have a sneaky suspicion the station cleaner kindly gave it a tidy earlier), whilst Sharon started digging into the root mess that the first planter was - it was impossible but Sharon, with Helen joining later, managed to get everthing out, even preserving some saved flowers! Julia and James were in charge of watering, a big job and a proper workout!, with Linda joining in later to help with watering cans filling up.
After much hard work, we finally were able to put fresh compost and new flowers, including geranium, petunias, ivy and lavender, into the new planter giving it a proper soak. In a few weeks it should look fantastic! We then cleaned up a bit of a mess that all the digging out and planting up resulted in and left the area as sparkly as it can ever be...:)
Taking advantage of the mild evening, Julia, James and Linda went for a very short walk to the recs ground to have choccies kindly provided by Raleigh as part of collaboration with Goodgym. As Sharon and Helen left a bit earlier, they took their choccies with them. We must admit, they were absolutely delicious!!!
Until next time! We'll be in Wanstead coming back to Baby Bank after a bit of a break. Sign up here
This is a resident and station led project to create a place that is lovely for locals to walk through with planters full of flowers and everygreens.
