Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
On a cold Saturday morning, when it would have been so easy to stay in bed, Ms S provided a reason to run. Ms S has a small garden, but due to her recent ill health, she is unable to care for it as much as she used to. This was GoodGym's second trip and the previous team had obviously done a great job, however this follow up visit gave us a chance to focus on Ms S's beloved rose bush, which was 26 years old and one of her late mother's favourites.
I met Lucy and David at the flat and we spent a bit of time chatting to Ms S before getting to work in the garden. David, who was returning for his second visit, did a good job disentangling the rose bush from the wooden fence, which the neighbour was going to replace, while Lucy and I did small bits of clearing around the garden, including pulling out some ivy and 'transplanting' a fake christmas tree!
We managed to fill 3 small bags of garden waste and gratefully accepted Ms S's offer of a hot cup of tea.
