13 runners ran 5km for a starter game of rounders
The sun returned in time for our usual 6.15pm meet at Flirt cafe, with a warm welcome to newcomers Clarice, Abbey , Liz and Helen. Also great to welcome back Lydia ! You were all amazing!
After all the hellos and remembering of names, a warm-up followed with mind bending headcount - well done! .... Then we were off.....! This was designed as a starter distance to give everyone the taste of a GoodGym workout, with a good paced trot and chat as we headed towards Meryick park and the start of the highly competitive rounders game :)
2 teams were formed as the rules were thrashed out and then the game commenced. Catches , drops , whacks and fumbles , with Neil star catcher in the field claiming many a scalp. Daryl was out a record 3 times in 2 innings(!) , with many a home run scored. Helen bowled a star turn, with Abbey and Liz's fast running between bases pipping the score in their teams favour - 9 1/2 to 8 1/2!
As we all agreed it was a draw in the end (!), an impromptu litter pick kicked off our return to Flirt via the Meryick Park forest track. Daryl led Helen back to Flirt via the road in search of easier terrain as the rest of the gang slid, jumped and hopped through the trees to make our way back to Queens road and the beautiful Bournemouth gardens. Trail running keeps the brain quick as well as the feet as Clarice and Dan discussed :)
The last hill to the top of the gardens brought us back to the start and a great workout was had by all. You all did amazingly well !
Daryl will meet you next week at the usual time as Hope house is calling ! Time to help again this fab charity.
See you in 2 :)
