Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Ant Withstandley
Seven VeryGoodGymers selflessly gave up their Saturday morning to paint a fence at the charming Willow Brook Primary School. For a couple of us, Ercole and the writer of this report, the day began at Walthamstow Parkrun where Ercole stormed home first in his age category and eighth overall in a great time of 21:25. Parkrun done, we headed to Mirth, Marvel and Maud to down a quick cappuccino and meet Nerys, Francis and Alex before heading off on our 3km run to Willow Brook Primary. Shortly after arrival we met Ruby and Carmen on site. Carmen bravely joining us despite what I hope will be a brief interruption to her marathon training with an injury.
We met the school's business manager, Alison on site. Thanks should also go to Alison for coming in on a Saturday and preparing everything for the team to get going. The Willow Brook playground is bordered by a white picket fence that is in need of a little TLC. Alison and her colleagues had come up with a great idea to brighten up the playground by painting it in the colours of a rainbow Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet (ROYGBIV).
Each team member was assigned a colour and paint was applied. We got a decent section done and will be returning in February for more sploging. In all the excitement, most of the crew also got painted so I hope a bit of Bold and a 40° C wash will sort that lot out.
Most of us ran a sensible distance home but Ercole and Francis went for a 20-mile trail run!
Well done everyone and hope to see you Wednesday.
