Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Share the love

21 people ran 9k, painted a shed and weeded some raised beds for a children's mental health centre.

It was the hottest day of the year so we tackled our longest run for a while including a dash up Primrose Hill. Brilliant!

Well-being Garden

We are heading for the Anna Freud Centre, a childrens mental health research and learning facility. It's in a beautiful spot close to the Freud Museum near Swiss Cottage. The Anna Freud Centre work to improve the lives of children and young people with mental health problems, and have created a well-being garden at the rear of the building. Its managed by local children but we help them with big tasks. Last year we helped create a series of raised beds and dug a pond.

Painty

They wanted some help painting a den/ cabin so we duly obliged. With only a handful of brushes and a limited amount of space to fit GoodGym painters into, the rest of the team got stuck in with some weeding. We blitzed the area, weeding a pathway and 4 raised beds in next to no-time. With time and light escaping us a few of us set off for home with the rest finishing the painting and tidying away the tools.

Smashed it

With only 30mins to get home we would need to run 7mins faster than we did on the way there to get back before Bob from Somers Town started looking at his watch and loudly tutting- but we absolutely smashed it! For some people this was the furthest they have ever run too. Impressive stuff.

Next week we are off to fill a compost rocket with woodchip. You should come along!

Painters...the paint does not come off! oops! no idea what kind of paint it was but a normal wash at 30C has not shifted it...
