Tonight was an unusual Goodgym task but it still had our core elements- running, community support and support of others!

Ellie turned up nice and early and was eagerly snapped up by the chief Marshall who found a corner spot for her and the dog for kids and adult race!

Esther was quickly given the task of kids warm up - sounds easy but huge crowd of kids all wanting to sprint off and start and not good at giving each other space is a little tricky! But a few jogs, knees, arm circles and stretches later, it was time to unleash the coiled up energy all these kids hold!

It's a 1 mile race and Juniors of 8+ are known to come in with times starting at sub 6 minutes so no hanging around!

There was also a bunch of newly graduated couch to 5k runners who were running tonight so Esther along with team mates were eager to support these with pre race nerves and cheer along.

Childrens race finished, it was onto the adults 5k race. Also a club champs race for Esther so it was onto the start line! As always it's great to see those supporting along the way and friendly faces - Ellie was at a great point in the far corner before the long stretch back so a good marker mentally, especially as it was 2 laps! Great to have a Goodgym shout out along the route!

It was a warm evening and a great atmosphere. I am hoping Ellie made it to the cake table in time as she was out on course till the finish, cheering on the final person who was building up her strength with a walk today. The final person was given a great cheer and was all emotional at finishing it - all part of her journey to fitness!

Fantastic friendly evening with great support of volunteers and amazing we could be part of it!
