Runners, Re-Joyce!
5 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Sunday, 8th of November 2015
This weekend five dedicated runners took time out of their weekend schedules to pay a return visit to a lovely Hackney Resident who’s garden needed sprucing up.
Joyce has just recently arrived back at home after a three month stay in hospital, having broken her leg and some ribs following a fall onto the pavement from a bus while on holiday in Southend. Not to be beaten by a few broken bones, Joyce is well on the road to recovery and was in good spirits to welcome the team of weekend gardeners.
At what point does brunch become lunch?!
Beds were weeded, leaves were swept, overhanging trees were trimmed and a huge pile of previously cut conifers were chopped and bagged to be picked up by the bin men. All in all, a huge difference was made in a relatively short space of time. Brief discussions over at what point does brunch become lunch (it has nothing to do with time but everything to do with eggs apparently) preceded the GoodGymers running off in their different directions to enjoy the the rest of the day, happy in the knowledge that Joyce’s previously unkempt garden would not be preventing her from getting outside safely to hang out the washing.
*Oh, and also we found a really giant worm, pictured above. *
