Last night 7 runners ran 6km to water the plants and weed at Forest Hill station

Bronmley News

  • Fancy a parkrun? Come and join the GoodGym Southwark crew (and friends) at Peckham Rye parkrun on 8th September. It'll be red tshirts galore and if you're interested there are some slots left to do pacing - find out more and sign up here.

  • It's nearly cross country season! Mud, running, hills and happy people. What more could you want? There's one race a month - 6km for women, 8km for men. It works out at £1 a race if you come to all of them PLUS tons of glory! Register for the GoodGym RaceTeam to take part.

  • Next week Adele will be taking the group on a 4km total trip to paint the railings at Baxter Field - sign up here.

Sage advice from GoodGym Bromley

With Adele away, I was delighted to take the group last night. We met at Bridge House pub as usual and headed off to run to Forest Hill station where we were met be Quetta who showed us what needed doing. We were beeped in and out of the station gates like VIPs! It was all very exciting. There's a little garden tucked away at the back of the platform heading north with two apple trees and a buddleja. I get the train there so often and had no idea! We split up to water the big planters out front of the station, all the planters on the platforms, to weed the secret garden and turn over compost. Phewf!

We finished in record time and had time to amuse ourselves with a photo opportunity. Thanks to Quetta for having us and humouring our photo-taking! She also let us take home lots of sage which prompted a discussion on what to cook sage with on our way home. It goes nicely with squash apparently!

We headed back a slightly different way and took the opportunity to do some sprints around a roundabout on a quiet road and some press-ups and tricep dips (thanks Louise for that one!). Winding through Crystal Palace park on the way back to base, the group put on one last effort to push the last few hundred meters to the south-eastern gate.

A great run and task completely smashed. Well done everyone!

Thanks for having me :)
