Nice to meet up with Ady and Deb this afternoon to help Ms D with her garden. There's lots that Ms D has been trying to do with the garden and is ever appreciative of our help, particularly those jobs that require a bit more muscle and energy which she struggles to do by herself.
Our first task this afternoon was to erect a fence border to a small pathway that had recently been laid to enable Ms D to put some plant pots on some concrete slabs at the end. We were soon bashing in the fence posts and lining the sides with membrane to stop the soil falling through and hopefully preventing any plant growth through the fence. Using a pile of soil to make the structure more solid also provided an opportunity to level out the soil which would allow Ms D to plant some more bulbs.
Whilst myself and Deb were finishing off the pathway, Ady set about constructing a hose reel which would allow Ms D keep her 3 hoses neat and tidy when not watering the garden with the added bonus that the council would not cut through these when they come to cut the grass.
With Deb helping to finish off the construction, it was then left to us to disentangle the 3 hoses, make adjustments to make sure that we had the right male and female connector parts, then attach and wind in the connected hoses, removing the kinks as we went.
Job done and after a quick tour of the garden and more chat with Ms D we were on our way. Proper job!
