On a morning when GoodGym were set to do the double, starting with volunteering duties at Catford ParkRun, remaining icy conditions on much of the paved sections unfortunately saw the run cancelled.

Thankfully there was no stopping part II of the morning’s plans, with enough snow having melted to reveal the past week’s dropped litter at the mercy of our pickers.

Objects of interest found included 2 small gas bottles, each requiring a twin-picker technique to lift, a hair-dryer(?!), and a scarf-plus-hat full of packed ice… soon determined to be discarded snowman accessories! Largest of all was a discarded hire-bike, which was decided would NOT fit into our bin bags(!).

After an hour’s long loop of the park, and with 2 large bags filled, it was time to hang up the pickers and enjoy a well-earned hot drink!
