Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Beth Nelson
Having very much taken the scenic route from Fulham Palace parkrun, Helen and I met up with fellow Fulham Palace parkrunners, Sam and Catriona to do our best ‘GoodGym removal team’ act!
It was a very crisp Autumnal morning for today’s mission, and luckily for us it was nice and dry as were going to be outside lending a hand with the packing up a storage unit. The storage unit was full of office furniture and equipment that needed to be packed up to a container and shipped off to Gambia to support local schools, hospitals and clinics, instead of heading to landfill!
First up for removal out of the storage unit and down the path to the containers were some chests of drawers, desks, tables, chairs, filing cabinets, mattresses and a bike - test ridden by Helen, to ensure it was road-worthy...
We briefly paused for some fresh pressed apple juice "like we’d never tasted before"... humorously we were told it was refered to as a 'ahhhhh' 🍏 and it sure was first cup refreshment!
Our thirst qlenched, we got back to work moving cages filled with stacks and stacks of chairs amongst other equipment. There was also a butterfly life-saving attempt and the discovery of a sword, which was examined closely by Catriona.
With many hands making light work, in just an hour we'd managed to help move everything they'd asked out of the storage unit. Mission accomplished we all said our goodbyes and headed our separate ways.
Great work guys! 🙌🏼 Thanks for coming along, special shoutout to GoodGym Southwark tourist, Sam hopefully see you at a GoodGym H&F group run soon!
