Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Michelle
Tonight 12 Goodgymers made light work of weeding and digging along one of West London’s famous streets and the task owners could not have been more complimentree at how much we got done.
Staveley Road in Chiswick is home to 91 Cherry Trees that provide the most beautiful pink blossom every spring. The residents of Staveley Road take care to protect the trunks with weeding and maintaining the tree beds during the changing seasons. It’s a task a few of us have done before and loved seeing the results in April, especially this year with the road providing a welcome diversion for runs and walks during lockdown.
We were greeted by two of the residents and provided with tools and bags to collect unwanted weeds. We worked in pairs around the tree beds, clearing, weeding and tending to the ground.
The local residents had made a start and our job was to carry on, with the aim of working on 10 or so trees. But little did they know how efficient a group of West London Goodgymers can be with the right tools! After just over an hour we’d managed to complete all of remaining tree beds. Mission accomplished!
