Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
Another week, another party in Hounslow! And it was extra special, as we had a lovely lot of GoodGym tourists joining us for the evening - lovely to see faces from Camden, Hammersmith, Ealing and Wandsworth.
Don't forget we have £10 community places for the Big Half - let me know if you're interested.
Well done on a couple of super 10K PBs for Matt and Eloise - nice running! And great work to the Hammersmith crew who took on the racing (and partying) in Bristol this weekend.
If you're looking for a free race/run this weekend, then you have two to choose from. The Morden Hall run is a 10k trail run in national trust grounds, or you an go for the Chiswick Bridge 10k, also free with spot prizes.
Good Luck to Remy in the Reykjavík marathon this weekend!
We started off the night with a warm up where everybody chose one move for us all to follow, then set off for Strand on the Green School where, after 2km, we arrived to find a list of jobs (and a small delay with the codes....thanks for coming to my rescue Beth!).
While a group set off for the playground to tackle the weeding, sweeping and clearing, others got cracking on the main driveway by moving leaves and rubbish. Meanwhile, with Johnny atop the skip, Michelle and Andy on barrowing and Remy, Eloise and Beth on shovelling detail, the massive pile of soil was steadily diminished. And we even discovered where Luis had been hiding these last few weeks...
Shout out to Jen who is almost three weeks cig free - give her a high five when you see her next!
We took advantage of the lovely school field (complete with mushrooms) to do our fitness session, which saw us alternating conditioning exercises with high intensity moves designed to get our heart rates up. Great work everybody!
All that was left was the quick run home, some stretches and then to the pub to celebrate Remy's birthday. Lovely to see you all! Next week we have a very special Wednesday group run - we're off to help out Thames Tradesmen, a rowing club run as a charity. We'll be helping do a litter pick and other jobs around the clubhouse, then we'll be treated to a special land-based fitness session. Don't miss out on this great one off by signing up here!
