On a particularly muggy London evening the Camden GoodGym crew set off from Somers Town and ran down to Holborn. We made our way to a small community garden outside a block of flats on Milmans Street.
We were helping Pippa, who is unable to access the garden in her wheelchair. We needed to level the ground and replant some rather sorry looking plants she had been unable to access recently. Pippa took control, directing us around the plot with the help of her Scotty Dog Cuthbert and rapidly singling out Mairi as the most green fingered amongst us.

The rest of the ‘muscle’ set about destroying the lawn with the help of two local lads, Freddy and Jude (we have Freddie to thank for the GoodGym photos too). It was tough work in the heat but we made good progress, attempting to smooth over a very uneven and dry area of grass. There was some pretty impressive fork action from the 3 J’s (James, Jude, and Joe.....perhaps we could have a GoodGym boy band). Mairi dexterously planted a few trees and Sarah revived the tired looking flowers with multiple watering can trips. Pippa was pretty delighted.

We stayed as long as possible- but had to drag our tired sweaty bodies back to Somers Town- running back through Russell Square, avoiding the draw of packed beer gardens and al-fresco dining. It was almost as tough as the task itself! Nice work all round.
