A gorgeous Sunday morning with views to match awaited Gary and I as we headed far out of town to help Ms H with a bit of assembly.
Living high up in a tower block that stands way up on a hill affords Ms H some stunning views of the Bristol Estuary and we were greeted with views of the South Welsh coast from her window.
With a few jobs to do to help Ms H settle in to her accommodation, having moved from town a few months back, we agreed that the priority was to assemble an old second hand wardrobe that her family had purchased for her. Lying in wait (or leaning against a wall to be precise) were some strips of wood, some screws, nails and dowling and, er, no instructions.
Unphased by this Gary started to apply the rule of common sense and before long we had a fairly clear idea of what went where and we set about our construction.
Using the dowling to attach the sides to the base and top, before a bit of speedy screwing to fasten, we were soon on to attaching the back - we nailed it!
Flipping the wardrobe over we soon had the doors and fascia board (no idea if that's what it's called) screwed on and were left with a very solid looking wardrobe.
However, we were left with a strip of wood which had us confused, not to say slightly worried! We looked all round the wardrobe but just couldn't work out what we had missed until we opened the wardrobe and discovered slots on either side just crying out for the said strip of wood to be laid across to make a clothes rail - hurrah!
I have to say we were rather chuffed with our handyman efforts, but not nearly as delighted as Ms H who now has somewhere to hang her clothes and we were duly rewarded with a rather splendid cup of tea.
Lovely!
