Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Manjit Birk
Over the past few weeks we’ve had a key worker scavenger hunt going on. We listed 14 key worker premises such as for NHS you could choose a hospital, a GP surgery or a pharmacy...for Education, you could find a school or nursery, for food retailers – any of the big supermarkets or any smaller more local shop and so on.
Now that the restrictions on going outdoors had been reduced we thought it would give the runners a nice little ‘project’ whilst out and about and maybe say a little thank you as you found them all.
I wanna hero....
So with 14 locations to find plus bonus points for finding 3 additional items such as Army, Foodbank and ‘Thank you’ poster….it was Ricky who came in first with ALL 17 photos taken! Seen as we hadn’t seen or heard from Ricky since the lockdown…this was amazing! He clearly had a lot of thanking to do…
Ricky’s treasure trove were all based in Hillingdon and he even got the WW2 bunker location sign! So first in and all 17 correctly found…we can declare him the winner! Next drink is on him. What a HERO!
I see you baby...taking a shot
Sutyee was on a mission with this hunt. Running plus photography plus selfies is just what she lives for! Though one day, she amusingly ran past the fire station in Langley and forget to take the photo. On another day she had a ‘hot spot’ for vans!
Horsing around
I did a bit of cross county bordering in my 3 days of scavenging. I started in Slough, knowing I could find a fire station, police station, undertakers and 2 hospitals! Then winged over to Iver for the remaining items on the list. One sunny morning I found a horse next to a post box! Only in Iver
If you don't ask...
Keira asked if taking a photo of her brother in law who is in the army would suffice…hmm…maybe next time Keira…but well done on your Stoke Poges finds
We hit the ceiling in Ealing
Jenni was all over Ealing. A selfie with partner Chris in all 14 finds…And Emily another Slough and Ealing runner was all over Ealing…but apparently just by looking outside her window she could see most of the key worker locations.
3..2...1 and i'm done
Jenny found 3 in 1 photo – a post box, a Thank you sign and an electricity location box! Well done for getting out and about Jenny...
Hit the jackpot
And Jen well just check out her collage! She also found all 17 items, including a beautiful floral rainbow...welll done Jen for being our first lady home with all 17!
Lastminute.com
Nisha was a lastminute.com on this one. On Sunday she told me she hadn’t found anything…yet I know she lives near a fire station, has buses galore going past her street, has a post box at the top end of her road and no doubt a few electricity boxes..but that’s ok Nisha…You never let us down…we did get your portfolio of photos..
Creme de la creme
Our photo prize this week has to go to Jeanette ...all the way from Leicester! Her photo collage was amazing! Thank you Jeannette for getting involved in this task.
So from ‘What’s your Emergency, to ‘Are you being Served, to ‘Saved by the Bell’ we really do have a great deal of thank you’s to say for everyone from our bin men to undertakers to council employees, who have kept the country going over the past few weeks. THANK YOU!
Thank you also to everyone who took part in this challenge. In total we covered areas from Slough to Iver to Ealing to Hillingdon to Stoke Poges ....and Leicester!
Still not too late to get involved on our June daily strength exercises ...
