Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by James Poole
On a pleasant autumn evening three of Goodgym's finest met to weed an allotment, run 6kms and talk about mental health issues as part of World Mental Health week and #ThriveLDN.
Somewhat appropriately, this was also the first week that the group got to use their new rechargable work light, which means that light can now be shone on more than just on mental health - we can do good deeds outside all winter.
With some of the regular group away on holiday or nursing injuries, it was a determined but skeleton crew heading to Wanstead Community Allotments to weed and tidy ahead of a healthy eating event later this month. With the new lamp shining bright, Peter, Chloe and James worked diligently to battle the weeds and improve the pathways around the raised beds.
Two million people will have mental health issues in London this year and joining a group like Goodgym can be an excellent way to meet like minded people and help battle feels of depression and loneliness. For more information on find a happy, healthier life check out ThriveLDN and get the conversation started.
Next week we REALLY need your help. We will be flyering to raise awareness of the healthy eating event in the allotment - an awesome event that aims to deal with the issues of obesity and diabetes by educating people on how to look after themselves. We can't do it without you so please sign up here.
Wanstead Community Allotments is a project run by Vision Redbridge. It is used by local schools and people with learning difficulties. It aims to teach children and adults about fruit and vegetables and healthy eating.
