On a chilly but still Sunday afternoon, I headed off to tackle Mrs D's plant pot makeover, part II.

The first task was to remove the pottery ornaments and store them safely. Animals, birds, butterflies and gnomes filled every available surface.

A dilapidated bird table, rabbit and duck planters, and numerous plastic troughs and pots were marked to go. Mrs D asked if I could find a new home for them at a local school, or other community space.

Some of the pots had become a temporary home for dozens of snails...they too had to be re-housed.

Within an hour, all was sorted. Plant pots had been weeded and emptied, a trough containing the first signs of spring had been saved and repositioned and the three pots chosen to stay were in place, alongside statues of Bill and Ben.

A new task was uncovered, however, as it was discovered that weeds had grown between the flag stones, causing a trip hazard.

As daylight faded, tools were put away for another day.

Mrs D is hoping to be able to view the progress made, once the weather improves.
