Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Share the love

Tonight we ran around 4km to help clean the windows, doors and skirting boards in Gingerbread Corner.

We were excited about having an indoor task tonight although it was a dry evening unlike last week. It was a short run along to Gingerbread Corner, a charitable childcare centre, which has been running for 40 years and aims to provide affordable childcare. Our task this evening was to clean all the windows, glass panels and skirting boards on the ground floor – children do have sticky little fingers! We will be heading upstairs next week. We did find a sensory/time out room with flashing lights and calming sounds which some of the runners got a little excited about! Apparently there’s a romper room upstairs so something to look forwards to for next week.

Because it was a short run to the task we went back a longer route and fitted in some hill running over the railway bridge working on technique both up and down the hills. Plenty of positive backward arm driving, tall posture and high hips (can you tell I’ve been on a coaching course!?)

Dom told us all about his first two Coach runs during the cool-down tonight: his coach sounds fascinating. If you want to find out more about Coach runs or Missions please email me on juliet@goodgym.org or have a look on the website. We now have around 17 older people/coaches ready to be paired with runners.

I am also happy to do DBS checks for Coach runs/Missions before or after the Tuesday runs or we can arrange another time during the week if you can’t attend at these times.

Congratulations to Ian for achieving the goal he set himself a few weeks ago of running 20km which he achieved this weekend – half-marathon next?

Don’t forget to sign up for next week’s run. With Christmas looming there’s also the GoodGym party for all runners on Friday the 9th of December in Battersea – it’s fancy dress and the theme is the borough you run in. It can be a place or person from that borough and no we can’t all go as Kate Moss!
