A quick lunchtime shop was in order today for Ms M, a regular requester of goodgym support. I popped round to collect her list and the cash, then headed to Kings Cross Tesco to get started. This week’s list was full of fresh fruit and vegetables - pineapples, grapes, tomatoes and clementines made for a very colourful start to the shop. Some brioche buns, ketchup, orange juice and frozen fish went in the basket too. Just lemons, celery and tinned mushy peas remained. Tesco was not forthcoming, so on the way back to Ms M I stopped by co-op to try my luck there. Lemons and celery were ready and waiting for me, but mushy peas were nowhere to be found! When I returned to Ms M she was happy with the haul and didn’t mind so much about the pesky peas.

As this was the first time I had seen Ms M since her husband sadly passed away, I also took one more thing for her. Before I left her with her shopping, I handed over a sympathy card that I had written for her after being assigned this mission earlier in the day. Knowing that Ms M’s family are quite far away, I hoped that it would bring her some comfort to know that myself and the other volunteers at goodgym are thinking of her during this sad and difficult time.

What a lovely mission and gesture Bethan! I'm sure Ms M really appreciated the card and the sympathies.

That's a lovely thought, I've shopped for Ms M before too, so sad to hear her husband has passed away.
