Ten awesome people joined me in Brent on a rainy evening as we headed to Action for Hearing Loss for the first time and ran 6 km!
We welcomed Sally on her first run, top effort coming out on a night like this.
With me being away for the last two weeks the news was somewhat disjointed but the key things were the social this Thursday, the Brent social next Friday and the unofficial GG 10th birthday on Friday 8th November!
With a quick warm up dispatched we were on our way, Deborah was our backmarker and I led the way.
We wound our way through the rain and we soon found the location. Once there Koku meet us and let us in. She explained that this was very much the home of the gentlemen that lived there and took the time to make sure we were all introduced and explained why we were there. This was done through various means of sign language and everyone was very welcoming and kind. Once we'd posed for some photos and explained why we were there we were shown to the garden.
Given the rain and the darkness the work for us was limited, the original task had been to more the lawn! Tonight therefore became more of a recce but we still managed to get some work done, doing some raking and clearing of rotten apples. Once we done as much as we could and I'd taken the ropiest pics ever (sorry) we said our goodbyes, were thanked profusely by the residents and were on our way. We hope to come back again soon in the spring to help build a sensory garden!
With Claire back marking I led the way back and before we knew it we were back at base doing our stretches. Task is to be confirmed for next week but do sign up here.
Thanks to everyone for my birthday cake, much too kind! See you all next week.
