Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Our first run for the new year saw 10 super Goodgym runners pounding the pavements in Bath tonight with a sweet 3.5k run in total to The Baptist church on manvers street.
A very warm welcome to Amy on her first Goodgym run tonight, having said she didn`t run that well I would have to disagree she did a fantastic job tonight.
Happy New Year to all and a welcome back to all our lovely regulars after the festive break, I know a few were missing due to work commitments or injuries. I think we were all chomping at the bit to get back into the swing of things after over indulging at Christmas.
The group headed out to the eastern side of Bath and for once this week it wasn`t raining , I THINK I SPOKE TOO SOON we took advantage of some squats on route with Steph counting backwards to get a few more in I think some of us were happy to catch our breath even if muscles were burning. Tonight's route taking us past the fire station with the hope that they might want to join us but I guess they were out on a shout. After a quick regroup at the top of Walcot street, Pascale set the group 3 sets of star jumps although John made an attempt to convince the group that she meant to say just THREE single jumps.
We headed back down towards the city centre and the Abbey churchyard for the group to take advantage of working the areas they felt most needed with a self style pick n mix of furniture fitness using the benches and only being allowed to stop when the bells stopped chiming, thank god it wasn`t midnight.
As we arrived at the church so did the rain but thankfully tonight we were heading inside to THE QUIET ROOM to sand down the woodwork and sugar soap the walls ready for painting another day.
The first job was to clear the room of furniture whilst Amy and Rosie set to filling buckets with water and sugar soap ready to start washing the walls. Anne, Pascale and Emma set to tackle the door frame and skirting boards with sandpaper with Emily opting for the windowsill and John offering to start washing down at the top as he was the tallest with the assistance of Alexandra to hold the ladder steady.
Ellen was on hand with her new camera more pics will follow so keep your eyes peeled.
The Goodgymers soon had the room prepped, sparkling clean and furniture moved back in. Just enough time for a group photo and a farewell to our host Peter before taking the short route back to the leisure centre for a stretch out and reminder to bring your ID to the next group run if you wish to be paired up with your very own running coach.
Another Good deed done tonight at what is hoped will be a very prosperous New Year for GG Bath.
Just a quick reminder there is a run this Saturday at 11 am https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/this-is-a-saturday-run
Some of us have had issues today viewing Bath runs so please check your profiles to check Bath is selected as your area.
Look forward to seeing you all next week
