What an amazing evening for a run! Calm and still, cool and fresh and we were running along the seafront into a beautiful sunset over the sea and the West Pier.
Before we set off we welcomed Sherman who joined us for the first time all the way from Hong Kong! Welcome Sherman! Big ups tonight went to Gilles for the Wimbledon Half Marathon, Beth for placing second at Bevendean parkrun and Michael for getting a whopping 3 minutes off his PB at Hove Prom parkrun! That’s what commitment and consistency get you, well done Michael!
The task at the end of our lovely seafront run was St Andrew’s Church in Hove. They were very happy to have us help them tidy up their churchyard as it gives them more time to concentrate on the good work they do being a community hub and providing shelter for the homeless. They had a great selection of cutting tools and we got stuck in to removing some rather large woody shrubs growing over some graves and a load of ivy from the back fence. We filled and emptied at least 3 big builders bags of greenery and Ian the verger and Dan the vicar were most impressed with our efforts. As always everyone got stuck in and we got lots done in just half an hour.
On the return journey we had a long, straight flat, traffic free seafront to play with which was just screaming out for some speedy intervals. So we did 1, 2 & 3 minute intervals regrouping for the same amount of time to recover. This is the stuff that gets you fitter and faster and you lot did a great job.
During the stretch we talked about the big social up in that there London on Thursday and also our own little social which will take place after our run next week. Looking forward to it already! And after much pun pondering and brainstorming the puntastic Beth came up with Six feet Under which only needed the smallest of tweaks for tonights corker!!
We are a Christian church who want to Love God & Love Hove like Jesus
