On a foggy Tuesday evening, a group of GG Yorkies gathered to clear a space in Acomb!

But not only GG Yorkies.. Charlotte all the way from Newcastle also came to join in the fun after being talked into it by Emily T. Well done on your first bit of GG tourism Charlotte (go and give her a cheer!).

The space we were clearing was an unusual spot. It was a space behind a row of garages where there used to be other garages. Underneath - apparently was tarmac and concrete but you wouldn't know that by looking at it. It was very overgrown, had grown its own floor covering of weeds and had obviously had some random items thrown in there too. The aim is for it to be used by the community but it's fate is yet to be determined.

Fortunately, there was a giant skip in there so we could ram as much in there as possible. Emily C was yanking out weeds with her bare hands whilst Leanne was trying to get everything she could without getting brambled.

Emily T and Charlotte were filling up tonne sacks full of soil and rubble and doing a team lift to tip the contents into the skip, whilst Mitch was compressing it all by stabbing it with a broom.

Tim and Ed were on bindweed duty and were pulling up rolls and rolls of it when they came across something unexpected.

I think we've got a dead body!

It was in fact a 'Lay-Z-Spa', which made us think maybe they could tranform this space into a local outdoor luxury spa..

After an hour, the skip was totally full, and the area was significantly more clear - there are another couple of trips on the horizon to get it finished once the skip has been emptied!
