It has been rather cold lately but this mornings walk for myself and run (for Rebecca) to Norwich parkrun was super slippy. Ice was all over the roads and paths. So many people joined in with MIND's RED Run Every Day January - it was great to see so many people turn out for the first parkrun of February.

On arrival to the bandstand there was much chatter about the ice and slippery conditions underfoot. As always though runners know that when they walk and run, they do so at their own risk. The parkrun was to go ahead this morning after a 5 minute delay to see if the sun would show itself and melt some ice! First timers were welcomed in the bandstand and volunteers made our way both to the the start and waited at the bridge.

Big applause for all the runners who were being very sensible and taking it steady, lots opting to run on the grass! Shout out to fellow Goodgymmers Jennifer and to Rebecca for braving the cold. A beautiful Swan was on the boating lake today, it really was a lovely morning.

Today I was scanning tokens. I was 1 out of the 4 scanners you can find at Eaton, we stand in the bandstand under the signs 'S1' and so on. I really like this task because everyone is friendly and chatty. Many thanking me for helping out. Rebecca came in and straight away started helping with the finishing tokens. The great thing about volunteering is that you soon get familiar with the tasks and can turn your hand to anything!

Thank you to the volunteers this morning. Please do consider volunteering and helping out to keep your parkrun going.

If you would like to volunteer next time then email: norwichhelpers@parkrun.com

This can be counted as a Good Deed as its around 2 hours of volunttering time. (If you volunteer 25 with parkrun you will be get a beautful purple 25 t-shirt! oooh eer!!)

Run 10 = Volunteer 1, Let's keep parkrun running
