Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Peter Van Tongeren
Ok, not quite an original title and actually not quite accurate either (it was a reclining chair, not a sofa) but it covers todays task quite well, so it will have to do!
Sam was on the lookout for another red shirt, so it was a bit of a surprise that I was a) wearing a blue work top and b) hopped out of a work van, as it was a lunchtime task. Having seen each others name pop up on tasks and group runs in the nearby areas, we realised we actually hadn't met in person yet, so it was nice to add a voice & face to the reports read.
We made our way inside and laid our eyes on todays target, the (broken?) reclining chair. It wasn't down in its standard compact position, making it a bit more awkward to fit through, which became apparent as soon as we tried to turn into the hallway. Having a little go at removing the side, it turned out the backrest came off quite easily so we made it work that way. This allowed for the chair to go upside down and Sam slid it down the hallway with relative ease, straight out the front door, much to the approval of the lady of the house, impressed by Sams strength!
Pushing the other furniture back in its place, we said our goodbyes and put the recliner outside, safely out of the way. Sam alerted the therapist that the task was done, so he could arrange for the council to pick it up.
After a little chat, the lovely Sam jogged off into the sunshine, leaving me to mix work with some food deliveries.
P.S.... there was another picture of the chair outside awaiting pick-up, but for some reason the camera made it too big to upload!
