2 GoodGym runners stepped out into quite misty conditions to help Mrs M with some old furniture piled by the side of her house. After introducing ourselves we went to assess the pile and where it needed to go. Luckily, it didn’t need to go far, as most of the items were by the back gate and only needed to be on the other side of the wall so they could be collected by the council. Less fortunately, there were a couple of heavy, cumbersome sofas amongst them, but as we were keen to add some strength work to our running, it was ideal. Which was our story to Mrs M, as she felt guilty and wanted to help us with some of the lifting. This is our “Arnie’s Gym”, we said. We were certainly no Conan The Barbarian, and not even Twins, as we did our best Chuckle Brothers impression - lots of To Me To You, as we pushed and pulled, swivelled, lifted, positioned carefully through the gate and dropped everything in the new resting place outside the house. While doing so we were able to talk about how great it had been to share a run with a friend during lockdown, to keep some kind of connection with others. These runs had really filled up the emotional tank, just like this mission was doing. When we were done, we asked Mrs M to check if it was all where she wanted it and she was delighted that she could safely walk on the path surrounding her house again. She was also a bit surprised that a couple of ‘skinny’ runners were able to shift it all so quickly. We took the compliment and added it to the pile of good feeling we had already collected.
