Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Portsmouth runner
We both arriVEd early as we'd been advised that it might be difficult to locate the entrance to the flat we were visiting. HoweVEr, as it turned out some loVEly people who were decorating their own flat balconies for VE day were very helpful at directing us (from a distance of course). We spent 15 minutes cooling down from our run and catching up on all our news - it was so loVEly to see each other in person, even if we could only send a virtual hug. But when you only see strangers whilst exercising, it felt really good to see someone you knew in a 'liVE' situation. After much reminiscing about the old 'normal', it was time to introduce ourselVEs to Mrs A who was welcoming her husband home from hospital. In order to take deliVEry of bed and hoist, we were needed to move a sofa into a different room to make some room. Fortunately, the flat was nice and roomy, especially in the hall way, so we were able to manoeuvre the settee out of one room and into it's final destination relatiVEly quickly. Bringing the settee up on its side, we slowly edged it forward through the first door (after a quick unscrewing of one of the feet) and then sliding it to the next door way. We were more adept at moving it through this 2nd door and quickly had it in place - Maxine popped the wooden foot back on and we rearranged the settee and a single bed into position. This all took just 30 minutes, so we asked Mrs A if there was anything else that we could help with. We were able to moVE a couple of DVD stands into a new position, and Mrs A confirmed how happy she was that there was now plenty of room for the new furniture to be deliVEred. We saw a VE decorated street cleaner and plenty more VE day flags and bunting hanging from houses on the run home. With the sun shining, I'm pretty sure lots of celebrations will be taking place at a distance. It was loVEly to see.
