I ran to the other side of Handsworth for an unpleasant sounding mission, to remove a dead cat from the back garden for Miss M. It was actually worse and better than that sounds. Worse because it had been there since mid December, next to a blocked sewage drain which had flowed over it many times. Better because I managed to get it straight into a liner in a box first time using a shovel. It was thankfully a very quick job but incredibly important for her as it had made her even more trapped in her home, which has mice and damp. Thankfully, Miss M is a spirited individual who is determined to get the support she deserves. She is being badly let down right now and this made me feel upset, instead of feeling unpleasant after such a task. Perhaps this small act of kindness will help her keep the determination she needs to demand better living conditions, and hopefully Age UK can support her further having got the ball rolling with this. I didn’t think anyone needed to see a picture of the task so for a change a selfie is more pleasant!

Well done on such an impactful task, John! Quite an odd referral for us but so great to see you handle it so well and really improve Miss M's living situation.
