Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Spreading gravel of course.
25 of us headed back to The Skip Garden last night. They're throwing a wedding this weekend and as everybody knows you can't get married on dirty ground, so our job was to spread two gigantic sacks of pebbles around the site for the bride and groom to crunch around on on their big day.
A big welcome to first-time GoodGymmers Pete, Lucille, Ross and Rebecca who seemed to have a great first task. Here's to many more.
Since The Skip Garden were also hosting a volunteer's event last night, we figured that 25 might be a few too many to have on site at once so we split into two groups: one got stuck into shovelling and shifting the gravel while the others went and did some serious exercise outside on the green: synchronised core, circuits and a game of cups and cones got everybody breathing heavily. The groups swapped roles after 15 minutes. Those on site made the freshly-laid pebbles look that bit neater by raking and sweeping and then tidying away.
All that work and exercise meant that everybody was well warmed up and ready for the Granary Square Time Trial. There was a bit of panic thanks to Simon leaving his clipboard on site - which Chris went to retrieve from the snarling jaws of a killer dog (I think), while Ross grabbed a menu for Beth and Beth to write the results on. Great efforts from everybody involved. Times available on request.
Shaun's back for Orcharding next week
See you soooon

P.S. It's always nice to include a YouTube link. The most gravelly thing I could think of was when Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams and Sting did a song together. Sorry

AIC's cold weather shelter helps 16 Londoners each and every week - you'll be making sure things are ready and inviting for the evening's guests :)
