Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Katherine (she/her)
5 Goodgymers set to work helping LWS Night Shelter this evening with sorting the generous donations that have been collected over the Christmas period through their reverse advent calendar campaign.
Spread across 4 separate storage containers, the first task today was sorting tins into different food types and putting them into crates to enable them to be stacked up and more neatly packed. James was going veggie, whilst Amy ruled the carnivore section. Nigel found his sweet tooth and set to work sorting the canned fruit, whilst Philip was on crockery duty sorting the cutlery, food containers and cups.
Not quite the heavy workout session that we had last week, but biceps were still flexed with carrying heavy crates and lots of bending down will no doubt be noticed in our glutes tomorrow.
We've made a small dent on this huge task but we just know it will be so satisfying when it's done. We will be back!
Our Mission Statement is “to provide a hot meal, a safe place to sleep and company for the homeless and vulnerably-housed members of the community in Leamington Spa and the wider area”.
