Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Wahooo! Gardening night. 10 of us took to the streets this evening, including first timers to Islington Anna and Fiona who fit in instantly.
Following the fastest briefing ever, we split into two teams and jogged the 3.3k up to Caxton House Community Centre where we were greeted by Sue who showed us the garden.
There were beds to turn over, ivy to cut back, plants to re-pot, bits and bobs to chop down and soil to lay. With floodlights set up and head torches and faces beaming we got going for a good 30 minutes. While working up a sweat we debated this week's pressing question. What is the best flower?
So, daffodils had two votes, but the best answer came from Dave: self-raising. Ha ha ha!
Beds turned, things chopped, floor swept and bags full and left by the compost heap we stopped for a quick biscuit (Custard Creams and Fox's Jam 'n' Cream today) and group photo before thanking Sue for her time and heading outside (what? we were already outside. We headed away, I mean). We spent a minute or so working on a nice driving arm technique / elbowing each other before a quick sprint down the hill and splitting back up into two groups for the run back.
A gentle stretch while discussing Simon's cat and Simon's cat (it all got very confusing) and Dog Judo and we were all done.
See you on Saturday for our Starter Session and next Monday for some cupcaking stuff
