On a sunny Bank Holiday Weekend, 11 fantastic GoodGymers stepped-up to this week's challenge.

St John's Beacon is the weird looking Sovietesque radio tower, bang smack in Liverpool city centre. At nearly 150 metres high, it is one of the tallest in the city. It takes seconds to get to the viewing platform (well worth a trip on a sunny day) or radio studios at the top of the tower, but without the lift, you'd need to climb 558 steps. 558 steps you say? Challenge accepted!

It was so lovely to see some of our team meeting up for a socially-distanced session to complete this challenge.

First in, Becky S. joined mum and daughter duo Jo and Roz and hit up the mammoth staircase at Festival Gardens. At 72 steps, it took 8 ascents to hit their target. A popular spot, Becki H. and Yan (at different times) also tackled these steps.

Meanwhile at the Met Cathedral, sisters Claire and Ruth met for a socially distanced step session at GoodGym Liverpool's old stomping down. They even did a cool down outside The Phil :)

The Met was also mine and Emma's location of choice for our first full family jog, together with puppy Penny-Flo. Every two flights, we passed the baton of the dog lead and the other began their ascent. That was, until it became clear that Penny-Flo thought this looked like a very exciting challenge and she got involved too!

Rowan also visited the Met Cathedral but split their session into two, also taking on the steps by the lake at Sefton Park on their second run of the long weekend.

Over in Runcorn, Pauline found a decent flight of footbridge stairs and went above and beyond to clock 630 steps!

I hope that you'll see a step-change in your fitness levels after such a good cardio workout folks ;)

Well done everyone! You are my (St John's) beacon of hope.

Next week we'll enjoy even more cardio with a high intensity interval sessions from the comfort of your own home. Let me know you'll be joining the fun by signing-up here.
