On what began as a sunny day, Annie and I met in Hackney for a gardening task. Although the sun then hid behind the clouds, the rain held off for the remainder of the task. Lucky.

This was Annie's 2nd mission of the day, well done! Keep up the great work with your missions.

At the front of Mrs E's home was a great beautiful tree. She said she loved having the tree and all of the benefits that come with improving our air quality. However, the tree would shed it's leaves in her front garden. This would happen a few times during the year, and would have been a job that Mrs E would normally tackle. Unfortunately, due to her health she is no longer able to do so and needed the help of a couple of Goodgymmers.

Annie and I got to work with clearing up the leaves with the help of a broom, a rake and a spade. The leaves had fallen mostly onto the steps leading down the basement level. The steps were completely covered and made for a treacherous journey to get to the bottom.

Clearing up, we were able to separate any rubbish from the natural debris; items included some cables, your typical wet plastic bags, and an empty tub of margarine.

Topics of discussion included dissolvable plastic bags, musical instruments, and overcoming fears of spiders. In fact, during the mission, we came across a few spiders which were handled very bravely!

By the end of the mission, the front garden was completely transformed and the hidden steps were uncovered.

It was a pleasure meeting you, Annie. See you at a another mission/Tower Hamlets Group run!

Dharmesh, it was lovely to meet and work with you on a very enjoyable task. Just seeing those steps appear as the garden refuse bin filled was so satisfying. I think it's important that GoodGym members know that although many cat-sized spiders were rendered homeless, none was physically harmed in the execution of our mission. Spiders sre people too!
