Everyone loves a sticker don't they? Maybe not when a minibus needs to be sold, but is covered in branding stickers advertising themselves and their sponsors. Driven Forward is a charity tackling food waste by re-directing surplus food from supermarkets. Their minibus was used to collect surplus food and also to take vulnerable people on trips. However this has not been done since the pandemic, and they would like to sell the minibus to raise some cash for the charity. Juli and Sheila answered the call to help remove the stickers and clean the bus. We met taskowner Tiia where the minibus was parked, near to her house. The stickers proved to be tough little devils, and required us to get a thumb nail under the corner and hopefully prise enough up to be able to get hold of the corner and carefully peel the sticker off. We were dismayed to find out that they were all individual letters rather than being on one big sticker. Not only the name of the charity, but it's Email address and logo, all as individual letters and blocks. Repeated several times around the van. Juli became a specialist at removing the Lions Club stickers. Tiia brought all sorts of cleaning products from her house, but none really helped to dislodge the stickers, although the Cillit Bang (other cleaning products are available) proved to be good at cleaning off the glue residue once the stickers had been removed. Progress was slow, but we did manage to remove most of the stickers, and clean off the residue, leaving the van looking much improved. Tiia also did some power-washing of the van roof, but more work is needed. Tiia was pleased with our progress, but we will need to make a return visit to finish off

Driven Forward
Helping the socially and economically disadvantaged

Driven Forward use their minibuses to help disadvantaged and vulnerable adults access social events, days out and activities. During the Covid-19 pandemic they have expanded to set up the 'Community Fridge' fresh foodbank and worked with the Windsor Homeless project to feed the homeless.
