SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Nicola Marshall
With storm Eunice threatening, we weren’t sure whether we were going to get away with an evening at the allotment. But true to form, good old Goodym luck meant that we were blessed with no rain and very little wind!
We started the evening off with our usual fitness session. We did a short warm up and then Karen & Nigel set off on a brisk walk and Claire, Maurice and Nicola set out for our weekly run. In the end, we did just over 2 miles and Karen and Nigel walked just over a mile. It wasn’t a bad night and of course, we put the world to rights along the way as always!
Back at the allotment, the task tonight was to empty some really big refuse sacks that were so full, they were unmovable. We split the contents between three separate bags and then loaded them up to take home to our various wheelie bins. There was quite a lot of spare soil at the bottom of some of the bags, so we distributed that into the beds and removed some leaves that had got mixed up amongst the soil. Nigel did a great job of clearing some dead grasses from some of the older beds that are tucked away and the rest of us mucked in at picking it up. All in all, we did a pretty good job of tidying with limited light and a threatening storm!!
At the end of our task, we all ambled over to local ‘Hops Bar’ for a drink. It felt soooo nice to be able to go back into a bar and have a social drink together. It was absolutely lush and I loved every minute! Hopefully there’ll be many more of those to come now!
Another fabulous evening in fabulous company with great teamwork as always! Can’t wait for those lighter nights to come now though so I can actually see all of your lovely faces properly!
Well done team! As Awesome as Ever!!!
