Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Nicola Marshall
Another wonderful evening was spent with our lovely Goodgym family last night. I love every one of our get togethers but last night seemed especially lovely as we had a long chatty run and a lovely social after our task.
We met at the Wishing Well for our weekly task which this week, was planting potatoes into the raised beds. Before starting our task though, we got warmed up for our run. Tonight, there was Emily, Karen, Maurice and Me. We didn’t have a walking group this evening, so we decided to get a longer run in. We warmed up with some of the usual warm up exercises like heel kicks, high knees and a bit of general throwing our legs and arms around in the air!
We set off into the evening, chatting as we went. It was nice to do a slightly longer run than normal and we certainly covered a lot of topics en route. Tonight’s run allowed us to take in our beloved Queen’s Park (well, just around the outside as it was obviously locked up for the night). It was a good run and one that certainly got the heart rate up as there were one or two sneaky undulating sections in there. When we got back to the Wishing Well, we hadn’t quite covered the 5K distance we'd set out for, so with all of us airing on the side of being slightly OCD, we made up the last few metres by running around Asda car park!
In the allotment, we put up the lights and got stuck into digging trenches for the potatoes. The weather held off and allowed us to get an entire bed of potatoes planted. Potatoes are always a good veg to plant because they are a staple food item in the Wishing Well kitchen, so we know they'll be used.
Satisfied with our work for the evening and with the weather beginning to get a bit cheeky, we packed up our tools and headed to Hops bar for a lovely little social over a drink and a few bags of crisps. We had a lovely time. We chatted, we laughed and simply enjoyed each others company. Honestly, I don’t know what I’d do without this amazing bunch of utterly wonderful people in my life. They keep me grounded, teach me things (regularly) and lift my spirit on a daily basis.
Thanks for another fulfilling evening folks. Love you to bits!
