Surprise Surprise
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Luton.
- Friday, 5th of January 2024
I was hopeful that Mrs J would be awake for my visit this afternoon so I was really pleased when the door started to open in only a minute after I’d rung the doorbell. Another woman answered the door and was as surprised to see me as I was surprised to see her. I explained that I was here to see Mrs J, and she said that she was from Age Concern and was also visiting to have a chat. Apparently she normally visits on a Thursday but this week she had changed her day. Mrs J looked confused, she hadn’t remembered that I was coming and apologised. I had seen a lot of rubbish in Mrs Jo’s front garden and so I suggested that she and the Age Concern volunteer continue their conversation and that I could clean up the rubbish and pull a few weeds. I couldn’t do too much as I had come straight from work in a skirt and heels so not really the ideal gardening garb. Fortunately I spotted a pair of gardening gloves in the kitchen, and it didn’t take me too long to get the front garden looking litter free. Once the rubbish was deposited in the dustbin I wished them both a good weekend and set off for home, explaining that I would catch up with Mrs J next week.
