Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
This morning I met up with Beth for a mission in Westminster for Mr M (or should that be Sweat-minster?!).
Mr M is currently in hospital and is hoping to be released today. To help effect this, a sofa bed needed to be moved out of his living room to make some space for a hospital bed and a riser-recliner chair. GoodGym were asked to help with this.
Arriving at Mr M's slightly early, we introduced ourselves to his partner, Ms M, and outlined what we were there to do. Ms M was a little unsure of the plan to move a sofa bed into an adjacent study,, and so we contacted GoodGym central to confirm before we started.
With plan A sorted, we prepared the study to receive the sofa by relocating furniture close to entry of the study further into the room and by standing a small futon on one of its ends (we were hoping maybe the small futon could spoon the big sofa bed). Although we were a little unsure as to whether or not the sofa bed could get through the doorway to the study, we decided it would be best to give it a go anyway: the thought of spooning sofa beds were worth it.
I cannot impress upon the reader exactly how heavy the sofa bed was. It was definitely made to last, but probably not made to twist through small study doorways. After a lot of pushing, heaving, bed unfoldings (in one instance, straight onto Beth's face! 😬), we decided that the sofa bed really wasn't going to go into the study anytime soon, and so changed the plan.
Plan B was to simply move the sofa bed into the dining room. As the dining room had a lot more space in it than the study anyway, this felt almost like a breeze in comparison (I mean, a (non-fever induced) sweaty, breathless, breeze, but still a comparative breeze nonetheless). We were interrupted partway through by a call from GoodGym Central to see how we were getting on, and they thought Beth was in the middle of running back home! 😂 We were definitely a pair of sweaty Bettys at the end of moving this beast of a sofa bed.
With the study room no longer receiving the sofa bed, we offered to move everything back into its original position (which we did), before saying goodbye and heading back to work.
Beth, it was fun working with you: stay safe, & I hope your face is ok! 😄
