Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Polly Skeats-Beswick
Did some say discounts?
First off we welcomed Matt from GG Bristol and Race Team Head Honcho, who gave us a briefing on what Goodgym Race Team is and what it involves.
You don't have to be fast or competitive to join - Fun and pride is the aim of the game.
Back outside
A very brave 8 runners warmed up under the shelter of the car park roof before we headed out into the rain for a 4k run to the task.
Dip your toe in
Yes, a few of us managed to sample the puddle temperatures on route.
Verdict: luke warm (if you were wondering).
Clair was waiting for us once we arrived at South Park - a beacon of colour, wearing a pink t-shirt and holding a red, jolly brolly.
Now for some "brooming"
Luckily, the council had heard about our visit and hopped to it - providing new tools for the task. Hurrah!
The group loaded up with brooms, hoes, bin bags and litter pickers to follow Clair round the corner to the Ecology garden.
NEWS FLASH: Weather joins in on Goodgym task
As you can see from the pictures above, the team made a fantastic job of weeding the pavements. We had originally been asked to water the garden, but we thought the weather was already doing that task.
Once our time was up, everything was bagged up to go on the compost heap.
Whilst doing the warm-down we said our goodbyes to Ruth, who’s been coming to H&F since the start and is now moving to Hackney. Give her a Cheer
One for the road
To celebrate a job well done we scoffed some tasty food at Draft House. Thanks to Aska our wonderful Social Sec and Task Force for organising it.
Happy running.
