An amazing 35 GoodGymers ran between 6-7km helping both Antrim Allotments & Sheltered Housing

Wow you guys are awesome, I asked for 30+ people and that is what we got. Thanks! Lots of newbies this week - welcome along to Harry, Ben, Milan and Sophie!

This week we were helping Antrim Allotments for the last time this year (due to light) and Sheltered Housing. Both great groups to help in Camden.

Sheltered Housing Report by PB:

After an active warm up 18 of us headed north to Kentish Town, it was a lovely 2.5km run up there with the sun setting over the area. We kept our distance from the other group who were also heading in the same direction for 1/2 of the run.

Once we arrived Cathi from Sheltered Housing explained we had lots to do, tasks included:

  1. Two people built and posted a mini fence for a tree
  2. Two and then four people painted brown tables/chairs brown to give them a new coat
  3. Eight people swept and piled leaves and debris - 10 bin bags overall
  4. Five people leveled some garden ground and then laid 8 paving slaps (Team Slap)

Amazing work everyone! We will be returning to Ashdown Crescent (Sheltered Housing) to plant some bulbs.

Antrim Report by Sophie:

17 lovely runners headed uphill to a Camden favourite, Antrim Allotments. We were met by Michael who explained that they needed an area clearing to put new compost bins in.

Several goodgymmers set to with shovels, bagging up a pile of gravel, while others pulled on their gloves and attacked the big pile of grass clippings, apples and tree branches that needed clearing. Dark rapidly descended but Pritesh valiantly held up some of the lights provided by Michael.

Pritesh valiant as ever

Sadly this will be the last trip to Antrim this year given the impending winter darkness, but we look forward to returning in the spring!

Sign up next week here we are off to Castlehaven.

PB out.
