SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Lydia Turnbull
10 knock-out runners completed 6km, completed team building and an obligatory litter pick.
GoodGym Bournemouth’s newly appointed Run Leader was announced tonight. Well done Andy - you are going to be fab! For Andy’s ‘anointing’ we also welcomed top man from GG HQ, Ed Field. It was nice for runners to put a face to a name!
Our mission this week was to stay as dry as possible amongst the showers - and as it was my last session as leader I had envisaged a sunny, fun game of rounders in the park. So our task was really to have some team building time….I also snuck in a quick litter pick while we are at it to be sure we all went away with the usual feel-good factor.
Our run out took us to the beach and through the lovely Bournemouth gardens (can you tell I wanted to show Ed the sights!). We headed up to Meyrick Park for our rounders game…
The game was surprisingly competitive, with Team 1 storming a 6.5 vs 4 point win in the first match. Second match, everyone had their batting eye in and there were a good number of full rounders. The pitch did get gradually more slippery with Daryl and Ross taking muddy nose dives. 'The ups and downs of the game' quote Ross!! The second game was won by Team 2 so we left it a draw and remained friends!
After the game we had a quick whizz round the park with litter pickers and bags - clearing all that we found...which was actually very little - cleanest town in the UK it seems!
A further 3 km was covered on the way home, looping towards Coy Pond and up to Westbourne before retuning to base at Flirt Cafe.
Andy led the warm down and reminded all, same time same place next week! We had a farewell drink and I bid the gang adios. It's been a fab 9 months leading GG Bournemouth and I wish the group every success with your new leader!
