On a Saturday morning, post-parkrun, 3 GoodGymmers gathered with 20 volunteers from the local community to work on the church garden. There were plenty of jobs to go around including racking leaves, planting bulbs, mulching a newly planted border and clearing an area of weeds ready for planting a hedge to cover an unsightly wall. GoodGymmers being GoodGymmers got stuck into the digging out the weeds ready for the planting of the hedge on Tuesday.

We began to clear the weeds only to find that underneath the first cm of soil there were bricks, and more bricks, and even more bricks. Quite concerned we were digging up something we shouldn't...we sought clarification. All confirmed we continued digging up the weeds and removing bricks.

We heard the call of "tea break", downed tools and quickly raced over. We were treated to a fantastic selection of snacks and tea/coffee - thank you very much to St Mary's! Whilst enjoying our hot drinks and snacks, we were spreading the word of GoodGym and hopefully will have some new runners joining us soon!

Back to it for another hour and we managed to clear the entire area that was needed for the hedge to be planted. Great work!

We'll be back at St Mary's in the spring to work on the wildflower area.
