Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Redbridge runner
wowza what a night! We were so super productive & also managed to get a 5k run in!!!
Helene was the first to arrive shortly followed by Julia. we were warmly met by the station staff who know us very well and appreciate our efforts!
The first task was to clear the stored planters as these were later collected by Woodford Greeners, another community group that are creating a huge community garden in the walled garden of Ray's Park. Sharing is caring!
With James arriving, we got to the planters to pick out litter (some but not huge amount!), plant out Lobelia, wallflowers and another flower that the name got lost for.
We then gave everything a good soak as it's been rather dry so some planters definitely needed water. Topped up with fresh compost and cleaned up after ourselves!
After an epic good deeding sesh we were in the mood for good old jogging! We took it super slow and made our way to Fairlop Waters park, which was in the dark, but James had a bike light handy that illuminated all the path holes really well!
Surprisingly we weren't the only ones in the park! A small group was walking a dog and a dude was doing pressups in the dark! Thankfully nothing dodgy (some cars in the carpark looked a bit interesting lol but that's also our imagination) and it was a super enjoyable night run!
On return, the same group we passed at the start were drinking at the station bike rack but James's bike was there so it's all good! As James was cycling away, Helene and Julia stretched out post run and headed back home by bike and foot respectively!
Lively sesh!
This is a resident and station led project to create a place that is lovely for locals to walk through with planters full of flowers and everygreens.
