Is definitely blowing in the wind as Bob Dylan said. It was a balmy 11 degrees but around the edge of the park during the first and second lap it was blowing. Still didn’t deter 415 people finding their way around Catton Parkrun #332 including runners from 17 different running clubs, 23 first timers to Catton which included 12 attending their first ever parkrun. Hope you all enjoyed your experience here. Bobby and I were marshalling today, me Timekeeper and Bobby Funnel Manager with his heart felt “well done” and “keep moving through please” ringing in my ears behind me. The start went well, as timekeeper you have to start the watch on the Run Directors GO but on walking to the finish line one poor lady walker at the back of the pack had tripped over and was sitting on the ground. James the RD today went rushing over and we ascertained she was ok if not a little flustered, but was helped over to Hayman Lodge for a sit down and a coffee. A quick note in the Parkrun accident book and all was well, she was smiling at the end of parkrun while she waited for her running family members, phew thank goodness, she was very grateful for the excellent help she received. Unfortunately later on someone else watching their family today collapsed in the Lodge and an ambulance had to be called. Hopefully everyone is now making a full recovery.
We had a number of Goodgymers running today, first GG family through was Panda Dave, others running were Nikki, Dr Kate, Rachel, Kathryn, Andy, Bill and Jonathan. Well done and I hope I didn’t miss anyone, thank to Bill for supplying names I didn’t see, I was too busy just counting bodies through and don’t always look at faces,

Angela and Tasha were at Sloughbottom Parkrun today:- Sloughbottom parkrun, event #39 started with a windy commute jog this morning. A hot cuppa at the end of the proceedings might be needed, all free at Sloughbottom due to kind donations. Fellow GoodGymer Tasha was on marshalling duties, Kate was running looking like she was enjoying the run with smiles all round! :0) My job was finish tokens with James, Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award participant. We shall miss these young volunteers when they finish up, as they've become a core part of the team. Volunteering at parkrun is good fun - meeting loads of new, lovely like-minded people and it's all over in 1-2 hours...so sign up to help at your local one! :0) A few tourists today, as far flung as Gorleston ;0), one volunteer milestone of 25, a VI runner kindly guided round the route by a volunteer and also, Paul Evans was running at Slowbum today - two times Olympian and Chicago 1996 Marathon winner. Something of local legend, a very affable and popular guy that has given back to the running community with his work at Active Norfolk and local running clubs. 259 people braved the windy conditions and all went like clockwork, except for one distraught parkrunner losing her finish token whilst sitting down for a breather. I think that baby could be absolutely anywhere now in that wind!! We packed up and we look forward to event #40! :0)
