Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Michael Kidd
Saturday morning in Camden and it was freezing; although this didn't stop Catherine, Lici and I meeting at Mrs M's flat to unpack, following a recent move. She was over the moon to see us and, despite being restricted to a wheelchair, was keen to help in any way and oversee our work at the same time!
The main objective was to clear Mrs M's bedroom, which was full of furniture, including a tumble dryer and freezer! She'd been sleeping on a sofa in the lounge, which was far from ideal, so we hit the bedroom and we hit it hard. The job entailed moving nearly all of the furniture out, so that we could fit the base feet, headboard and metal supports - in other words make it possible to sleep in.
Next stage was to rearrange the furniture to Mrs M's liking, including bedside tables, chests-of drawers and storage units. We finally got it right, after a few attempts, and the last big job was to relocate the tumbler and chest freezer, with the latter in the bedroom! The final touch was to dress the bed and we could leave, with Mrs M much happier and very grateful.
