The Book Thieves - Part Deux
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.
- Wednesday, 31st of January 2018
Wednesday night was the second trip to Mrs M in three days for Gosia and I, as part of Operation 'House Move'. Our host was only moving 6 doors away on the same road (from one small basement flat to another) but she had a collection of books of which any library would be proud.
Having been over on Monday night and started cleaning and packing Mrs M's considerable book collection, we had hoped that some progress had been made in our absence. However, this was not the case so we quickly realised that this would be a solid hour of hard graft.
Gosia was straight to work cleaning and packing yet more books while Mrs M's loyal sister (over from Ireland), set me to task clearing/cleaning cupboards, loading bags/boxes with kitchenware and tools and then transporting them up the road. Having Irish family myself, I know well not to cross older Irish ladies so I did exactly what I was told!
One hour later and we'd made at least a sizeable dent, with the main removal firm arriving on Thursday and Friday. The lesson for this week is never to underestimate how much 'stuff' people can accumulate over a lifetime and bear this in mind when helping them move!
